Synopsis
Synopsis
Traitors came like thieves in the night and stole the crown, the country, and the throne. They think they’re safe. That the people won’t fight. That the rightful Crown Prince and Princess will submit to their will. How wrong they are.
Our communications are being monitored and we’re not sure who to trust. Yet, despite all that, forces rally to reclaim what has been lost.
Come visit Brazenbourg one last time to see who claims the throne once and for all, and learn the fates of Crown Prince Finn and Crown Princess Arianna.
This novel features royal families that love one another (even while they annoy or fight with each other), elements of suspense and politics, and a look behind fictional palace walls.
Note: This is a continuation of book one in the duet series, Bastard, which ended in a cliffhanger. This is the final book in the series and does not end in a cliffhanger.

They slammed into each other, but neither one minded. Arianna wondered if she were dreaming, but the sound of her name on his lips was real. “Finn.”
“Baby.”
Their arms wound around each other tight, tight, tight, and their mouths met in a hard, brutal, bruising, breathless kiss.
They eventually pulled back and barely noticed they were now alone in the room.
“Elle?” he breathed.
“She’s fine. Perfect. Sleeping.”
He closed his eyes and rested his forehead against hers, his body relaxing slightly.
Her hands roamed over his shoulders and into his hair. Neither of them minded that he hadn’t had a proper shower in days, that the scent of his stress and troubles and journeys to safety lingered on his skin.
They were together again, and that was all that mattered.
“I need to see her,” he croaked out. “And I need to be with you. Do we have time?”
She felt that same longing in her core, but shook her head. As leaders, they had to put themselves and their needs last. “Time to see Elle, yes. But there are other things we need to take action on first before each other.”
He kissed her neck, then chin, then mouth again. “Okay, baby. Lead the way.”
“First, are you all right?”
He nodded. “Weak as shit, but okay otherwise. Sarah?”
“A few steps up from you, it sounds like. Rio?”
“He’s good. I couldn’t have made it here without him.”
She looked around but didn’t see him. “Where is he?”
“Probably doing the same thing with Sarah that I’m doing with you. Now, let’s see Elle.”
They stepped apart but kept their hands linked as she walked slowly and quietly into the bedroom. Elle had turned in her sleep, her little arm now resting on one of the pillows keeping her from falling off the bed, and she’d pushed her blanket off. Arianna didn’t blame her; this blanket was not as soft as the one they usually used for her delicate skin.
Finn finally let go of Arianna’s hand and moved to the bed, while she stayed near the door. She wanted to watch this moment, to sear it into her memory, a growing album of moments where her Finn was a gentle, kind father, even to a sometimes ornery Elle. He was so patient and understanding…so selfless, even with Elle. She didn’t want to forget these moments in the days—and hopefully years—to come.
Finn placed a kiss on Elle’s head and brushed a hand over her head and back, almost as if he wanted to check for himself she was all right, that she wasn’t hurt or bruised or somehow broken by everything that had happened. She was very young and wasn’t likely to remember any of this, but there was no telling what deep emotional toll all the stress and tension around her might do. Emotional health was as important as physical health, no matter the age.
Finn moved her arm and rearranged her, then covered her with the blanket again. Elle didn’t move or fuss or wake up—a miracle only her father could have wrought.
He pressed another kiss to her head, then stepped back and moved to Arianna again. “She’s really all right.”
“When she wakes up, she’ll let you know how ‘all right’ she is, trust me.”
He nodded and moved her into his arms again. “Fuck, baby. Fuck, fuck, fuck.”
“I know.”
“I thought I’d lost you, that you’d be—”
“Lost without you, too?”
